Whilst commenting on the new partnership, Curry expressed his satisfaction saying that he is “excited to partner with a company that demystifies the crypto space and eliminates the intimidation factor for first-time users.”
Curry joins a long list of athletes that would be partnering with the exchange this year. Per the press statement, the Golden State Warriors star “is the latest high-profile athlete to partner with FTX in 2021, joining NFL stars Tom Brady and Trevor Lawrence.”
FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried was quoted to have said “after meeting and speaking with Stephen, it was clear that he is a seamless fit for FTX. His tireless commitment to charity alongside a ferocious work ethic to become the greatest in any arena he steps foot in, whether it is basketball, investing or business, perfectly align with FTX’s core values. I look forward to working together with Stephen to create a positive impact for those who need it most in the world.”
The press release also revealed that Steph Curry would also be working as the global ambassador for the exchange. This means that the superstar will be looking to “expand the reach of the FTX brand and tout the viability of cryptocurrency to new audiences around the world through several upcoming initiatives.”
Steph Curry and His Crypto Adventures
In recent times, the basketball superstar has made lots of adventures into the crypto space. According to a recent Coinspeaker report, the NBA veteran point guard, Steph Curry, purchased a Bored Ape NFT from the Yacht Club for 55 ETH ($180,000).
The report, detailing Curry’s purchase stated that its features include “blue fur, zombie eyes, and wears a tweed suit. The last two traits of the NBA player’s NFT are a rarity. Only 3% of apes feature zombie eyes, and an even lesser number (1%) wear tweed suits. In addition, there’s also a spinoff collection of apes called ‘mutant apes.’ This grants holders the ability to alter the appearance of their ape NFTs into new, outlandish ones.”
Away from his NFT purchase, Curry also recently asked his followers on Twitter about which crypto asset he can invest in.
