The NFT space has seen significant growth since the start of this year. Propelled by the tremendous success of some artwork like Mike Winklemann’s (Beeple) $69M Christie’s auction, the industry has seen an influx of famous artists and other celebrities looking to make money by proving unique content to fans.
One such artist is popular DJ Steve Aoki who collaborated with creative director and visual artist Antonio Tudisco to come up with the ” Dream Catcher” NFT that raked in over $4.29M.
Another is a musician and known blockchain supporter 3LAU. Beginning February 25, fans could buy one of 33 NFTs of his album on the Origin Protocol’s Dshop. NFT album sales totaled $11M.
Other celebrities to hone in on the technology are popular skateboarder Tony Hawk, socialite, entrepreneur and DJ Paris Hilton, models Kate Moss, Emily Ratajkowski and Cara Delevingne. Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey auctioned his first Tweet for $2.9M for charity and rappers Snoop Dogg and Eminem also joined in on the craze with unique music tracks.
NFT case uses will continue to expand beyond simply enabling artists to sell their art in digital form. They have the potential to aid in the authentication of rare items and prove ownership of virtual items and real estate.
